The Nonsense Papers: Helleyer vs. Hawking: Are Aliens The Threat, Or Are We?

Since the dawn of time, aliens have been a centralized part of human life in every aspect from cultural beliefs to technological advancements.  As technology advanced so rapidly within the last seventy years, there is no doubt that many are claiming that UFOs were a direct result of this; one supporter especially former Canadian Minister of Defense Paul Helleyer believes just that.  Helleyer has told MSNBC that the U.S. government has been hiding evidence of aliens and UFO activity for a long time; going back to WWII and the first contact established by Eisenhower and the Greys.  He even went as far as to express concern for the fate of humanity in the coming years.  His belief system states the fact that if humans continue on the path of ignoring the threat of our expansion into space without respecting our alien superiors, we will suffer the events transpiring into an intergalactic war.  This idea was based on the facts that the U.S was planning to build a base on the moon to monitor UFO spacecraft and shoot them down if considered a threat.  If the case of our technology is actually based on earlier alien prototypes, then it would be safe to assume that they contain higher grade technological weapons than what man possesses. In any light, shooting them down would put us in the realm of a war that Helleyer suggested and we would be on the losing end.

With all of these allegations presented, should we be considered the aggressors or should we considered a type 0 civilization trying to defend itself from possible colonizers of type 1 or possibly type 2 characteristics?  There is no doubt America’s mindset when presented with alien life is skewed from all of the angles.  With Hollywood’s interpretations, most Americans consider the alien idea as fantasy or nonsense; coupled with the denial of the U.S. government, trying to push the idea is almost slim to none.  When consulted by established science, most experts only consider “alien life” to be simple microbes or bacteria, never anything more advanced (as to prevent public panic).  There is one individual however, that expands his idea concerning aliens to a degree that has Helleyer upset due to his claim of disinformation by the science community: Stephen Hawking.  There is no doubt that the most intelligent man on Earth considered by many has some vital information concerning this already taboo subject.  According to his beliefs, Hawking firmly suggested that if alien life beyond simple microbes were to exist, that they should be avoided indefinitely by humans.  They would be considered hostile in general and would have the result of how colonists encountered the Native Americans during the conquest of the new world.  Helleyer firmly believes that these aliens who come in contact with our human cultures are not hostile even though they disable our missiles like the one incident on November 8^th 2010 when a missile “mysteriously failed” off the coast of California. Helleyer believes this was done in self defense. Are humans capable of self control?  On what basis does the U.S government see these potential space explorers as threats simply because they were fired upon first?  The mindset of “shoot first, ask questions later” has always been a popular model accepted by humans when dealing with international relations and is accepted by most war enthusiasts.

Helleyer seems to adapt the role as a peace ambassador for alien civilizations that he believes are only here to view our way of life and should be respected.  Hawking seems to adapt to the realist point of view of an unknown superior enemy that will eventually destroy our entire race if we open our doors ignorantly.  There will be no doubt that this will eventually become a heated debate with lots of moral and ethical baggage.  Whom do we trust, the most intellectual scientific mind of the 21^st century, or the Defense Minister that has proof of our alien master’s gentle nature toward human beings?  Where did the influx of technology come from over the last seventy years so rapidly if not by alien prototypes?  Is the mindset of the U.S. government on their “aggressive expansion” model going to head humanity into future trouble, or has it already?  Whatever the case may be, the public mind is the last to know anything before it happens.  Perhaps America should open its options on listening to foreign governments who have countless data on visitors from other worlds.  Should we be defensive when dealing with an unknown force who could end us?  Or will fear and ignorance be our downfall as these space explorers only wish to welcome us into a larger perspective of the universe to eliminate our close minded current views?   Only time will tell……..
