What we could do tomorrow

500x333 Grandfather Girl Future 300x206What we could do tomorrow as a human society is actually very astounding.  Through a simple polling system through our already existing governing body, and use of something such as Twitter, we could all unite and vote on key and important decisions for humanity.  Let’s think about this for a moment, because in this year of 2011, we do in fact have the knowledge, and technology to solve most of humanities problems.  All that is required is governance and administration of the polling system, and execution through a separate governing body such as the United Nations.  Let’s take a look at what we could theoretically solve tomorrow:

1 – World Hunger.

This could easily be solved tomorrow.  We have all of the resources to feed every single person on the planet.  We could ensure crops are grown en mass, and/or tithe 10% of all crops and put them towards global consumption.  Distribution channels already exist.

2 – Clothing & Homelessness.

We easily have all of the resources and technology to create massive housing complexes and clothing, which would undoubtedly create several government jobs to maintain said facilities.  These complexes could be funded using existing resources in our budgets, and redirect funds from misappropriated choices which undoubtedly exist if we were to take an honest look at the books.  This could be done globally, as we undoubtedly have the technology and raw materials and willing labour forces to do this if given the choice.

3 – Stop fighting.

If we globally considered a cease fire, and then globally examined the ROOT CAUSE for each conflict, we could easily find amicable ways to solve each problem.  Even long standing hatred could be thoughtfully examined, as obviously both sides can see that death in either case is not the best choice.  We have the technology to kill each other, hopefully we have the wisdom to stop.

4 – Educating the world.

For every student, there is a willing teacher.  All that is required is for a global effort to educate a well fed, housed, and clothed world.  With the basic needs of humanity met, we would undoubtedly see a reduction in crime, with safety steadily on the rise.  As the world becomes more accessible, so will there be access to teachers and education systems which could raise the global knowledge, awareness and understanding of humanity.

5 – Reducing Crime.

Crime is produced by less fortunate circumstances in light of a perceived hateful and unforgiving world.  When basic needs of humanity are not met, men and women will resort to crime to meet those needs.  When mouths are hungry and you are the one who must provide, would you not steal for them?  If medicine was all that stood between your son or daughter living or dying, would you not kill for that medicine, or give up your own life?  When we give people no other option, this is what we can expect, a world full of crime.  If we meet the basic needs of humanity such as clothing, housing, food, education… what need would there be for so much crime?

6 – Ease Religious Conflict – Create a common religious belief system.

This is simply the idea of creating a mailable thought system, which has to a degree, a good portion of the common beliefs about “God” or “All that exists around us” aka Universe, multiverse, etc. from each major religious system, as to be inclusive of all.  This would have to be so high level, as to simply state the common qualities of “God” – such as All Loving, All Knowing, All Forgiving, Creative, etc.  so that each religion could find their place, or at least agree their their deity would have these same qualities.  In perhaps doing this, we may find that we are all worshiping the same thing.

7 – Realize we are all one.

This, the final realization enabling the rest.  We could all have this realization in an instant, and in fact tomorrow if we choose.  This would be a simple choice to realize that we are ALL connected to each other.  Science teaches us this.  Spiritual masters of all belief systems teach us this.  When you see a person hurt, you too will feel the winces of pain.  Just as you would realize and sympathize with the suffering of a family member, you would suffer too when looking directly into the eyes of anyone in such conditions.  We are all connected to each other, and through a realization of this, we could stop so much insane behaviour towards ourselves.  We are all worthy of life, love, the pursuit of happiness in our chosen way.  Allow space for this realization, and we could have this entire list executed tomorrow.
